What are dental emergencies ?

Dental Pain

There is nothing worse than having a toothache. It can prevent you from a good nights sleep, eating, drinking
and being able to concentrate at work.

Broken or Chipped Tooth

Broken and chipped teeth are not only irritating but look unsightly. Breaking a tooth can happen when you least expect it and sometimes it can cause you confusion as to why your tooth broke, especially when you were only eating a sausage roll or a sandwich. The Carrollton Advanced Family Dentistry has repair broken and chipped teeth making them look and feel as if nothing had ever happened giving you the peace of mind to smile and eat what you like, just don’t go opening beer bottles.

Bleeding & Sore Gums

Bleeding gums can be a sign of having gum disease as well as feeling very sore. Sore gums can actually feel worse than toothache with a burning sensation leaving you feeling irritable and taking far too many pain killers. If you think you have gum disease or your gums bleed during brushing or even when eating then it is highly advisable to see a dentist. Bleeding gums is not only an oral health risk but also a sexual health risk, leaving you wide open and increasing your risk of catching Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Do not think bleeding gums will disappear on its own and it is always best to be safe than sorry, having a dentist check the health of your gums on a regular basis is advisable.

Abscess

Infections that are finding it hard to escape will cause swelling in the mouth and can some times be visible on the face. Not very many people think it but abscesses that go untreated and be dangerous. Abscesses that form on the lower jaw can turn in to something called a “deep neck abscess” this can be especially dangerous as the infection can enter the blood stream going directly in to your heart causing heart failure or other serious health problems. Abscesses that form higher up, on the upper jaw can be equally dangerous.
